It all started at Red Cactus with a single application: Bubble Desktop. Since then, many years, integrations and developments have followed, and today our platform consists of a complete suite of Bubble365 Apps, alongside Bubble Desktop and Bubble Cloud. And now it’s time for the next big step: we’re launching Bubble Desktop Version 5!
Version 5 is much more than just a new version of our original application. Bubble Desktop has been completely rebuilt, with a new frontend, new backend and new features. In terms of both design and technology, we’ve also brought Bubble Desktop in line with our Bubble365 Apps. Selected partners have been extensively testing Version 5 through our Alpha channel over the past period. Their feedback has now been incorporated, which means we’re ready for the next phase: making Bubble Desktop Version 5 available to a wider audience.
The first thing you’ll notice about Bubble Desktop Version 5 is its completely redesigned look and feel. The frontend has been rebuilt from the ground up and brought in line with our Bubble365 Apps in terms of both design and user experience. As a result, our different applications increasingly form one consistent experience, both visually and functionally. But we haven’t just focused on appearance. The way you work with Bubble Desktop has also been improved. The SearchBar, Call History and pop-up notifications, among other elements, have been given a new interface with a strong focus on clarity, speed and ease of use.
You also have much more freedom to decide where Bubble appears on your screen. Previously, you could choose from four fixed positions. Now, you can drag the Bubble notification to any position on your screen. Working with multiple monitors? You can also choose which screen Bubble appears on. Your selected position is automatically remembered, so Bubble will appear in exactly the same place next time.
The result is a modern Bubble Desktop that feels familiar to existing users while being fully ready for the next generation. Want to take a first look at Bubble Desktop Version 5? On our Bubble Desktop page, we take a closer look at the new interface and its possibilities.
Not only the frontend of Bubble Desktop has been renewed. The environment in which you configure Bubble has also been completely redesigned for Version 5. All settings have been reorganised, making configuration clearer and easier. One of the key changes is the introduction of Basic and Advanced Mode. In Basic Mode, we only show the settings needed for most configurations, while Advanced Mode gives you access to all available options. This keeps Bubble simple where possible, without sacrificing functionality for more complex configurations. Read more about Basic and Advanced Mode in this article.
Also new are Day and Dark Mode, as well as the ability to access the relevant guide directly within the application from the CRM and Phone Connectors. This means you no longer need to leave the application and visit our external knowledge base. In addition, the new Connector Status lets you immediately see within a profile whether, for example, a connector still needs to be authorised.
We’ve also added new personalisation options. With Text Alignment, you can now choose whether the content of a notification is aligned to the left, centre or right. Since Bubble Version 5 also forms the foundation for Bubble Cloud, this functionality is available in Bubble Cloud as well, and therefore across the various Bubble365 Apps.
Finally, we have further expanded and improved the logging, making technical information easier to analyse and enabling us to support partners even faster and more effectively.
All these new settings have, of course, also been implemented in our Web Configurator. Bubble Desktop can therefore be configured both locally and through the Web Configurator, while partners can also manage Bubble Cloud from the same central environment. This brings local and central configuration closer together than ever before.
Bubble Desktop Version 5 is available as a native application for Windows, macOS Apple Silicon and macOS Intel. This means we offer a version specifically developed for each supported platform.
Despite all the changes, we’ve deliberately made the transition to Version 5 as easy as possible. Updating from Bubble Desktop Version 4 to Version 5 is just as simple as the updates you were already used to within Version 4: just one click. Version 5 is also fully backwards compatible. Existing configurations and integrations will continue to work, allowing you to benefit from the completely new generation of Bubble Desktop without having to reconfigure everything.
So while Version 5 represents a major step forward, the transition for existing users remains as simple as possible.
A completely new version naturally requires up-to-date documentation as well. As you’ve come to expect from us, all information about Bubble Desktop Version 5 is already available in our Knowledge Base. From installation and configuration to the new settings and features, partners have everything they need to get started right away.
Our AI chatbot EVA has also been fully updated with all the latest information about Version 5. Have a question about the installation, configuration or a specific feature? EVA can provide immediate assistance based on the latest documentation. This ensures that not only the software itself is ready for Version 5, but all the information and support around it as well.
Of course, there’s much more we could tell you about Bubble Desktop Version 5. That’s why, during our webinar ‘Our Most Revolutionary Bubble Updates Yet’, we’ll take you through all the ins and outs of this completely new generation of Bubble Desktop. On 22 September, we’ll demonstrate Version 5 in action, discuss the most important changes and new possibilities, and tell you everything you need to know to get started.
